Bio
Jyoti is a passionate leader with 15+ years of experience in the life sciences industry. She trained in pharmacology, molecular biology and health economics and is a strong advocate for healthcare innovation.
Jyoti started her career as an R&D consultant working for EY. In this role, she managed a portfolio of commercial clients and provided strategic advice on accessing funding for innovation and technology development. During this time, Jyoti worked with clients across the life sciences and technology industries, and gained significant experience in value communication, policy development and public affairs.
Over the past decade, Jyoti has followed an international career in the global pharmaceutical industry. She has worked in the UK, Australia, and as a Global Market Access Director for large multinational companies, and negotiated multimillion dollar commercial agreements across different countries, to help patients to access the medicines that they need.
In February 2022, Jyoti relocated home from Switzerland to New Zealand to lead the market access and public affairs team at Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD). In her current role as Head of Government Relations and Policy for Australia and New Zealand, Jyoti works with stakeholders across both countries, on health policy issues.
Outside of work, Jyoti enjoys chasing her 3-year old around playgrounds, and encouraging his budding interest in science. Jyoti also mentors students in STEM through the University of Otago and Victoria University of Wellington alumni programs.
