Former AmCham President 2019-2020.
Mike Smith was Managing Director of IBM New Zealand, retiring in December 2020. He began as MD in October 2016, joining from Spark Digital where he was General Manager of Cloud and Sourcing.
Mike was responsible for leading the company’s data centers, cloud professional services and the Revera business.
Mike previously worked at IBM New Zealand until 1999, as a Director of Mergers and Acquisitions and Strategic Alliances, and General Manager for IBM in the South Island.
Before joining Spark Digital Mike served as Chief Executive of Oxygen Business Systems for ten years. Mike lead a team of over 260 professionals and delivered over AUD$650M of SAP enabled transformations to many tier one Australian and New Zealand organizations. In 10 years at Oxygen Mike was awarded 12 Partner Excellence awards by SAP.
Mike was awarded an MBA from the University of Canterbury in 1996. He has also studied strategy at the Harvard Business School.
