Women in business event - Stuff no one told you about juggling careers and kids.
Speaker: Emma McLean, founder of Works for Everyone
Emma Mclean is the founder of Works for Everyone, a professional development consultancy. Following a 20-year career in corporate marketing, she re-trained to become an Executive Coach in 2019 and through coaching, she specialises in helping her clients to play bigger, whether that is returning to workforce after children, stepping up their executive career or pivoting across industries. As an impatient optimist when it comes to system change, she launched her successful podcast “How to Smash the Motherhood Penalty” in 2023 where she talks to humans who are actively working to change the system that creates penalties for all caregivers but only mothers pay a financial one. And in 2024 she launched the first NZ Part Time Power List – to shine a light on those senior roles in NZ that are career building, not side stepping. She has been asked to speak by New Zealand’s largest employers including Mercury, ANZ, BNZ, Fonterra, IAG, Fisher Funds, Gender at Work, Jun 2025, FSC Empower Women May 2025, The Retirement Commission, NZDF Gender Equity Conference, Deloitte Women in Leadership, and One NZ Mana Wahine. A sought-after expert she has been featured on RNZ, TVNZ, Newstalk ZB, Capsule and the Untidy Podcast. She is inspired by the clients she supports every day and leaders like Melinda Gates who believe “when you lift up women, you lift up humanity”. She is a member of Global Women, alumni of the 2021 New Zealand Leadership Programme, and is a lifelong Swiftie.
